Interesting.

I've backed the v7 client down to 10/12 threads.

I'm down about 2000 ppd-ish ......Which really is nothing , obviously those 2 threads are used elsewhere.

So......-adv flag now ?

:haha:

I am trying SMP 8 now. Even w/ SMP 8 the GPUs are definitely getting fewer CPU cycles. Their PPD has dropped a few thousand each so far.

EDIT: GPUs are down closer to 20k total. Guess I'll stick to GPU only folding still . Time to start to look @ Haswell as this X79 rig is just too much of a power hog to keep running 24/7.

Turned off hyperthreading and stopped all CPU folding. The two GPU clients are using 50% of my 3930ks now. But look at the outcome. :shok:

Just curious how does this do compared to a modern 4P rig?

Looks good lowfat. Points wise it's doing great, ~350K PPD for two. How much power is the system pulling though? The best efficiency I could get from a 4P (AMD) was 760K PPD on P8105 @680 watts total. I can then go > 850W or so for ~850K PPD for the same work unit. On an E5-4650 (Intel) @ around 650-700 watts it does around 1M PPD on a single 4P, assuming it is properly configured that is.

Way To Fold

~550W from the wall. But I am not exactly using a power efficient system. I am planning on migrating to Haswell so it might do a bit better in that regard.

That's still over 600 ppW. That's a nice "little" boost for the GPU's. I have a 4P system that was getting about 350K (depending on wu) and pulling in 500W peak from the wall. You're right in the same ballpark for 1/3 the cost. Fold on

Seriously !! it hurts me to shutoff my 3930k , but..

I'm very curious now.....While the initial numbers were lower , it appears I'm up forsure ....Looks like my lowest gpu slot is about 33k , which is certainly an improvement.

I'll shutoff the smp.......think hyperthreading matters ?

We'll see what the 580's do.

Ok.

My sweetspot appears to be smp 8.

3x 580's + the smp 8 is ~ 110 kppd.....now everything's stock...

I appear to be getting about 97,000 PPD at the moment. Running the 3930 cpu with 9 threads
and 2 gpus. A gtx580, and a gtx660. The gtx 660 is doing about 13000 PPD more than the 580....!:shok:
The cpu PPD is a joke at 4.2 GHZ.

Setting the 'thread count' to an odd number doesn't work. It's multiples of 2 , so smp -9 is actually smp -8.

Once I've got this rig running again Imma be playing around more.
