I just can't do a new video card yet . I need a new laptop and a new 24 core xeon rig .

The Xeon rig is getting new video cards , but like , that's 8000$ away.

I didn't last too long folding again.. My basement room was getting too hot with the GPU going full tilt all the time. Perhaps in the fall when I need heat down there. :)

I wanted to pick up a 1070, but ended up getting a new home server.. which is more fun imo. :thumb:

After a few days of folding with it I can say that a single Asus 1070 Strix achieve around 700k~750k PPD on air. Not bad at all!!!

What is the gpu you fold with? The 960 from your signature?
Yeah, it was doing the regular PPD, something in the 230k range.
Most likely I will put that in another box to fold this winter, and fold with the 1070 if we have a chimp challenge, or I need to heat my basement inefficiently.
Hell, I heated an uninsulated garage with three SR2's.. It was a balmy 20c in mid winter. :)

1070!!!

After the 1060 was released, I decided to go from a 960 up to 1070. 1060 wasn't enough for 1080P in ultra high and eventually going to 1440P.
I would go 980Ti as a close second, but for folding - the power usage cost savings for the 1070 would make sense over the long term.

Your 960 was doing 230k on average? Windows or Linux? Because mine was doing135k on average in Win.
