Heya all now that I'm finally diving into the deep end of Linux I been noticing alot of the popular distros use 6.05 or 6.1 from est kernel looks of things. What I'm wondering is can I upgrade the distro I land on to the latest available like 6.14rc3? Or will that not be possible and the distro has to support that?
Pretty much every distro you can upgrade the Kernel alone I used to do it all the time I would go find the newest kernel usually not found at the distro site which I think was maybe here https://www.kernel.org/releases.html but just use the commands and it will upgrade to the newest kernel I even upgraded one of my distros to the testing kernels and well I got lucky didnt have any issues other people apparently where but I was ok, I wouldn't recommend doing that if its your only system or OS the issue is some people had issues with graphics and audio and other drivers which then they had to rebuild which again can be a pain in the butt, myself it was years ago when I used to do this , I always loved Linux kept my mind active but because I game well Linux doesn't play nice with the games I play lol

Indeed, it is not very hard to upgrade the kernel to something newer.

Linux Mint offers it in the kernel menu (or you can install mainline ).

Once, and only once, my laptop did not boot with the new one.

I selected the previous kernel from the boot menu, and then deleted the new one.
