A bigger fan would help but in the general sense they cannot do it because of (a) where the camera cable is (b) power. I am sure there are ones with bigger fans, say 80mm, and most likely 3d printed with the caveat of no hats, no camera and most likely an external power supply for the fan.

Yeah some of them completely block any extendability. Event the one i'm using if I use a ribbon to a breadboard I can still close up the case but then the fan itself doesn't have access to the pins for power. For actual fiddling and wiring one of these is really nice


A pi will actually screw down to it and you have the mini bread board. No worries about bumping it and getting things unplugged etc since everything is secured to the main board.
