Well FreeKnight... I was trying for a play on the "camera adds 10 pounds" expression, but I really should have seen that coming!

You returned the 2080Ti?! I see your reasoning but bummer. You've been wanting an upgrade for a good while. And good luck making your loop look better than mine! I've started this thread as a push to get me actually doing it. But mine will either turn out well because of the pressure or I'll have a very well documented disaster! ;)

JD, the copper base looks pretty good out of the plastic bag. But the bag does look labelled for the Nickel. There is an (Ni) on the sticker you can just make out in the picture above. So perhaps it originally game with the copper mounted and that was swapped for the nickel at some point? Dunno. Over all though everything looks in good shape to me... you know, based on my vast experience with water cooling gear!

As JD said it looks "kind of odd"......EK doesnt normally supply both Copper and Nickel base plates with a Water Block......and the Nickel Base does look like its been installed "skewed" 90 degrees......but the parts all look fine :thumb:
Piece of cake taking the Block apart to adjust the orientation....I installed mine skewed the wrong way 90 degrees I noticed my GPU temps were up around 52c under load....they normally sit at 40c Max.......so I drained (once again) and fixed it....immediately temps on my GPU's went back to normal....keep us posted.......!!!!

No...you'll do just fine. Always remember where the air wants to go and make it as easy as possible to get rid of it.

The Nickel plating is for oxidation/corrosion resistance and keeping air/oxygen in your coolant to a minimum will help also.

Working through the parts list... get's pricey fast! :shok: Not surprising, I know. I'd like to order it all at once to only pay shipping once, but we'll see. Obviously splitting between Dazmode and EKWB directly would cost me more shipping too.

So far I have:

EK-Supremecy Evo - bought

White soft 10/16mm tubing - bought (8 ft... I think that is enough)

EK Cryo coolant - bought

EK-FC1080 GTX Ti Strix RGB – Nickel and plexi = $237.09

EK-FC1080 GTX Ti Strix Backplate – Black (rev. 2.0) = $56.70

Wanted to go all EKWB, but the slim ones are out of stock at Dazmode. So wondering about these. DarkSide rads good performance-wise or should I wait for the EKWB slims to be back in stock?

Front of case: DarkSide - Triple LP360 Extra Slim Radiator = $67.99
Or the EK-CoolStream SE 360 (Slim Triple) = $109.64

Top of case: DarkSide - Dual LP240 Extra Slim Radiator = $52.99
Or the EK-CoolStream SE 240 (Slim Dual) = $81.99

Fittings: I need 10 min, but will need something else for the drain.
EK-ACF Fitting 10/16mm (3/8″ID 5/8″OD) – Nickel = $87.90 (gulp!) - only 6 in stock currently. Guess I'd have to try waiting list for the rest or I can get a 6-pack from EK directly but it is still $40.99 USD.

Pump and res... still TBD.

Fans... not sure. Vardar fans of course recommended by EK. I have two 120mm Swiftech ones on the current H220. And one Fractal Design in the front of the case, but that's an airflow fan of course. I'd need 5 to fill all the proposed rad spots.

For the drain, can I use something like these two pieces, two compression fittings and a short piece of tubing, or am I thinking about that wrong?
EK-AF Ball Valve (10mm) G1/4 - Nickel
EK-CSQ Plug G1/4 with EK-Badge - Nickel

Or perhaps add one of these in to branch off for the drain:
EK-AF T-Splitter 3F G1/4 – Nickel

As with the rest of this thread, recommendations/identified errors certainly welcome!

EDIT: added the EK rads for comparison.

Daz has these Feser ones on clearance: https://www.dazmode.com/store/shop/...ng-connector-38-id-58-od-value-pack-set-of-4/

I believe this would work for a drain port: https://www.dazmode.com/store/shop/watercooling/darkside-push-valve-black/. When you want to drain, throw on a piece of tubing and barb. You may still need a T fitting though depending where you want it and/or what reservoir you get.

I haven't bought from them, but I'm pretty sure others have: https://www.aquatuning.us, they appear to charge HST/brokerage up front, so hopefully no surprises if you need another source.

And if you're really looking to save, you can delve into the Chinese market:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Bar...TI-80-70Ti-70-60-BS-ASS1080T/32930512261.html
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Byk...070-O8G-GAMING-Water-Cooling/32882175435.html
Barrow and Bykski seem like fairly big brands now carrying full lineups.

Fan wise, I really like my Gentle Typhoons, so that's what I'd suggest if you don't need RGB lights. Daz has PWM and 1450rpm, I have original grey blade 1450rpm ones that I run at 7V. Basically silent and no bearing noise or anything of the sort. Same can't be said about the CM RGB fans I have for case fans :blarg:

Holy crap Barrow WC kit is cheap. Intel blocks for like $30, GPU blocks for $100, etc.

Almost tempting to give them a try. You'd end up paying less than half of what you'd pay for EK kit :shok:

Slight off topic, but they even sell a whole custom kit for about the price of an AIO: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Bar...tube-Water-Cooling-Kits-YR01/32790002580.html, shipping a little on the pricey side though, probably due to the length of tubes. An EK pump+res combo costs about the same as that whole kit...

Yeah, looking through their Ali-express listings has me rethinking sending back the 2080Ti I have to arrive on Friday. Hell, if I buy 3 rads, a pump+res, tubing and fittings, cpu and gpu block I'm still drastically below what I'd have spent elsewhere. Even if Ice lake changes the socket layout and I have to get a replacement, at 20-40 a cpu block it's a lot easier on the wallet.

I like supporting Daz, and EK makes nice kit, but damn that's a lot of money saved.

Thanks JD, nice to see some cheaper options, and info about the Gentle Typhoon fans. I have researched those ones too.

Not sure if I want to go the AliExpress type route. The quality is likely fine but running liquid in my PC makes me feel like I don't want to cut corners. Unfounded perhaps?

I really like the design of the EK stuff. I don't have to do this fast, so if the cost takes me a bit longer I might be OK with that to get what I want.
