I run a small business in the Edmonton area and I need a VoIP provider recommendation. Our current provider hasn't been great, so we need an option for switching, as well as one that we can recommend to clients. Reliability is key, along with a preference to be hosted in Canada. The ability to maintain 1-800 and 1-888 numbers is important as well.

Anyone have any thoughts? I like to keep money local, so Edmonton providers would be great. But I'm open as long as the product is good.

Voip.ms is what I have been using in the office over a decade and at home for almost as long. Had some issues in the beginning at home but their tech support helped me make a few adjustments to my settings and has been solid since.

The only issue I didn't solve is it would cut out after an hour during conference calls in the office. Not sure if it was the phone or the provider being an issue.

I've had very poor experiences with voip.ms. I know they're popular, but every interaction I've had with them and every time I've had to deal with an issue with them, things haven't been very good. Odd technical issues, poor customer service, etc.. Perhaps I've just been unlucky.

We're an M365 shop with Teams. But I absolutely hate Teams VoIP.

I've been digging around a lot and I'm interested in Quo. Looking more in to that. Just don't like that it's an American company.

I realize not everyone likes ooma and I've heard horror stories about dealing with customer service but luckily I haven't had to call them for anything in years of residential service. They seem to have a business side of plans but only you will know if it fits your needs, 500 minutes per month seems very restrictive to me if I'm reading correctly when I've got unlimited residential minutes.
