Hi all im planning to build a budget gaming computer and i need help deciding what ram to use.

The specs are:
e4300
asus p5k c
antec 900

Those are all that matters right now and im wondering what i would be better of with.

1. OCZ (OCZ2P8002GK) DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz Platinum XTC 2GB (2x1024MB) Dual Channel Kit Canada Computers - Memory > DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz + : OCZ (OCZ2P8002GK) DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz Platinum XTC 2GB (2x1024MB) Dual Channel Kit.

2. Patriot Extreme Performance DDR2 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400 Low Latency DIMM Kit (PDC22G6400LLK Canada Computers - Memory > DDR2 PC2-6400 800MHz + : Patriot Extreme Performance DDR2 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-6400 Low Latency DIMM Kit (PDC22G6400LLK ).

I will be overclocking and would like to know your thoughts. Part of the deal on the ocz ram ends today so i will await your answers.

between those two kits it probably doesn't much matter. E4XXXs generally don't go over 400FSB that often...the E4XXX series is notorious for FSB walls at < 400FSB. since both kits are rated for 400MHz you should be able to set the memory to run 1:1 4-4-4 until you hit your CPU FSB wall.

the only reason for one or the other would be warranty, who is better to deal with. or if there is a compatibility issue with either one. i have no comment with compatibility because i have never worked with the P5K C or either of those kits. HTH

Budget and overclocking in the same sentence don't go together. If you cheap out on some parts that'll be the weakest link in your overclock.

Your E4300 will already be the limit of your overclocking so either of those kits will work perfectly fine.

Changed my mind last minute and decided to use an older monitor for now and spend more on my other parts.

e6420
Patriot Extreme Performance DDR2 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC2-8500 Eased Latency DIMM Kit (PDC22G8500ELK

I figure i'll do better with these

I know this isn't the buy or sell spot but if anyone has an extra or used c2d lying around, about this level of processor i wouldn't mind buying a used one.

I'm located in Toronto
