O.K. Well I am going to buy a new system but am not going for a high end GPU yet as I am waiting for the G90 or G100. So....

Saphire 1950 Pro 512 MB GDDR3 $181.26

ASUS P5K $132.94

PC Power and Cooling Silencer 750 Quad 750W $183.52

Enzotech ULTRA-X CPU heatsink $60.98

Samsung DVD burner 20X... $35.98

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 $279.18

Already have a...

Sound Blaster X-Fi extreme music

2gigs of DDR2 800mhz OCZ revision 2

250 gig SATA 2 Westen digital

fans, cooling and a case.

Please suggest anything. And I will be happy. I just want the GPU till spring. Also any suggestions on a cheaper but good power supply That will beable to have and overcloacked Quad Core and GPU.

Could go with a Enermax PSU. Might not be much cheaper though.

Quite a nice setup though, you should consider a 8800GTS at least if you can afford it. That way you can play Crysis in all its DX10 glory

I could afford a 8800 Ultra. I just don't want to spend too much money on a GPU and then dump it a few months. It could be an extra $100 down the drain. Also DX10 in Crysis is not much different from DX9. Thanks for any help/info.

I just checked out the BFG 650 watt powersupply. Is it any good? Is Antec good?

I suggest the 256MB version of the X1950 Pro. Save some cash since that card really doesn't necessitate that amount of cache, unless, of course, you use the XT version. An X1950 XT 256MB can be had quite cheaply (I'm seeing them under $210), but the difference in performance is as clear as day...

Ok I think I will go with the 8800 GTS 320mb. Change the CPU heatsink to the Artic 7 pro, a bit cheaper dvd drive at 18 x instead of 20x, a OCZ 700 watt powersupply and am wondering if I should get the Gigabite P35 board because it is $30 cheaper.

The PCPC Silencer will be overkill for a single GPU system, and it's getting slightly old in the tooth. By this point, it's become pretty unanimous by reviewers that it's good, but there are comparable supplies that are quieter still. It's also not modular, so get ready to do some cable-gami. The Corsair HX series is quiet and proven options for a PSU.

The 8800 GTS 320 is a nice card, if it meets your budget. If you get it from EVGA, you might be able to take advantage of their 3-month upstep program. Assuming the new high-end cards are out in time, that is. Odds are that they'll try to release them before X-mas, so it's a possibility.

OCZ 700W PSU should do ya fine. My friend has one running a E6600 @ 3.6GHz, 8800GTX @ something, 4GB DDR2-800 RAM, 4(?) hard drives, ton a fans etc.

Is the Arctic Freezer well suited for quad-cores? Might want to look into it.

Which Gigabyte board are you talking about? Theres various models...

Definitely get eVGA video card, gives you 90 days to step-up incase that new card you want comes out.

Got a review for that cooler right here on this forum. It certainly holds its own with a dual core at 3.37 GHz @ 1.55V, so I'd expect it to handle a mild OC from a Q6600. If you're after serious clocks, might want to look at a big tower sink, tho.

id go with the Corsair HX620, its one of the best power supplies out right now

and where are you buying from?

and for $60, id get the TR U120X, unless you dont like how it looks, it depends on what case you get... oh, and its big, so make sure that it will fit in the case you get
