New gaming build for my son

Here's a question: What do I do with his old computer? Technically, it will be an almost complete rig - FX8350, M5A97 Mobo, AIO cooler, 8GB of DDR3, an RX570, a few Sata SSD's, and a powersupply.

The case is pretty darn ratty and dirty, and there's no way I'll re-use it, but what can I do with the PC itself? I feel like the motherboard/processor is too old, inefficient, and not powerful enough to use as a PLEX server (based on how my Ryzen 5600X was running hard when transcoding a 4K HDR movie down to 1080P via PLEX the other night). BUT, it would still suffice as a basic home computer...for...somebody.

I could buy a really cheap case for it, and then, what....? What does one do with older e-waste that technically still functions perfectly fine?

Set up directplay correctly on the receiving devices, and this system should have no problem as a plex server for multiple clients at multiple resolutions.

Either that or donate it to computers for schools if you have a local drop off.

you can sell it for a low sum, rx570 is still capable for gaming at 1080p.

While you figure out what to do with it, try a version of Linux. Linux Mint is a lot like windows.
The other option for an old but still usable system, especially if you've wiped it clean and installed Linux, would be to donate it locally. There's always someone who can't afford a system or some non-profit that would benefit with a freebie.

I'm interested in the RX570 if you are going to let it go. Could swap the R9-290 in my sister's Hackintosh to enable better hardware support in Adobe.

Got most of the PC assembled this morning. Still waiting for the GPU to show up on Wed, and obviously Windows needs to be installed. I'm busy for the rest of the day, so that will have to wait. I love this little case - so compact.
