Hi, I am planning to build a new system by myself (first timer). I am going to list some of the compoents that I will use. Let me know if there is anything that I can change.

CPU
E8500 or Q6600

Mobo
EVGA 750i FTW or 780i FTW?

GPU
2 x EVGA GTX260 SC+ in SLI ($269.99each)
1 x EVGA GTX280 OC ($469.99)
2 x EVGA 9800GTX+ in SLI ($169.99each)

PSU
Corsair HX1000

Cooling
Thermaltake 680l Water System

Case
Thermaltake VH6000BWS ARMOR+

RAM
Some DDR2 with 1066MHz or higher?? I am not sure.

HDD
2x Seagates 640GB in RAID0 maybe or just 1
Thanks in advance for helping!:canadianwave:

First question, does the wire for the front I/O (USB or FIREWIRE) come with the motherboard or the case? OR do I have to purchase them separately?

If i understand you correctly the wire comes from your case which you then connect to your motherboard like in my Cosmos S case it has support for both which i then connect to the board.

Alright first choice of hard drive is good I have not bought and of the new 640gb seagates but if they are anything like the 500gb versions then you have a solid performer. For ram may i suggest the Mushkin Ascent 8000-8500 4gb kit. What windows will you be running??

You'll have a beast of a computer with any of those Videocards i was questioning the use of that 1000 watt Powersupply but if your going to go sli then i guess it is good to have that extra boost.

Looks good, except for cooling. What do you plan to cool with the TT? I highly doubt that water-cooling setup will cool a Kentsfield and 2 powerful GPU's. GL

If I may suggest, techreport says that there are 45nm quad cores listed which may very well be at the old price point of the Q6600.

Intel intros $230 Core 2 Quad Q8200, new Core 2 Duo - The Tech Report

For cooling, that's no better than a good air cooler. A xigmatek HDT, vendetta 2, or TRUE would be better (with a good fan). And would cost a little less.

For harddrives, the Western Digital 640 is currently the defacto hard drive of choice.

If you're not so banged up on SLI, a P45 mobo + 4870 would be well suited for you. I don't personally know, but it seems in general that nvidia's chipsets are inferior to intel's current ones.

Case is your choice for aesthetics, but I prefer minimalist ones. The P182 / some cooler master cases are worth looking at. Or LianLi.

RAID not worth it; buy a small drive and 1 large drive

Thanks that's what I need to know.

I am just using the TT to cool the CPU, was hoping to get some good overclock.

You don't need 1000w for SLI.

And SLI is really a waste of money with a single card solution that can push a 24" no problem.
