For those that haven't seen them yet Pande Group member Yslin has delivered two projects to the Folding public that use -advanced methods on their GPU3 rigs and it's not good news for those using the lower end Fermi cards.
Things are not looking good for those that just invested in new GTS450's and from what I've seen even GTX460 ppd on p6800 (1298point) is only marginelly better than the 611 pointers, I haven't seen a p6811 (7202point) WU yet and I don't think I want to.
Initial reaction around our Folding forum is....not good...
Hi,
There will be two new GPU3/Fermi projects 6800 and 6811 on adv soon:
Please note that P6811 has the largest number of atoms ever (2150 atoms) for a GPU3/Fermi project. Donors with low/medium-end GPUs may notice a significant difference in PPD since low/medium-end GPUs may not perform well relative to high-end GPUs as system size increases.
- P6800 is our second-stage sampling of the amyloid beta peptide.
P6811 presents our first attempt to sample the configurations of a prion protein.
Points and deadlines:
Thanks!
- P6800 -- 1298 points, preferred deadline 4 days, final deadline 10 days
P6811 -- 7202 points, preferred deadline 13 days, final deadline 18 days
