I've been using this MX 518 for a while now and the left button seems to be losing some of its spring. Don't really want to pick up a G5/7 as I value that extra side button too much!

Anyone have information if Logitech is releasing an update/refresh of their gaming line soon? Or should I be looking at another vendor (Logitech has been great with RMAs for me before so I have some brand loyalty to them)

Sitting in the same boat here, dont want just a back button I want a forward button too damit!
Got a MX1000 but it is starting to show signs of it's age .

Yeah, I use an MX700 at work, and a G7 at home, and I find myself reaching soooooo often for that forward button. I swear that's how Logitech is planning to sell their next generation of gaming mice. They know that more than 2000DPI is not really necessary, so the features are going to be "more buttons" grrr.....

I'd just get another MX518 if that's what you like, there's nothing wrong with that mouse in the least. I still use it on one of my secondary PC's. I use a G7 on my main rig at the moment and love it... except the fact that the battery needs to be changed every, single day.

G5 has a weird texture to it. I think it's a good idea to go to the store and see what feels good... then compare the prices and go from there. The MX518 is still a mouse you can't go wrong with though.

Is the battery that ****ty on the G7?
My mx1000 lasts quite a while and it's comparable I'd say to the G7.

Yes, the G7 is that bad, hehe. The thing is... it's wireless and designed for serious gaming, so it retains a strong signal at *all* times. That's why the battery dies so quick. If you forget to turn the mouse off before bed, then you will need to change the battery the next day.

I'm on the PC all day regardless, so my mouse may die faster than others. My friend has one also and has to change it every other day though. That's why they include two batteries with the mouse.
