Having an audio issue...

Motherboard: GA-MA785GMT-UD2H (BIOS f1)
OS: Vista Home Premium 64bit

Noticed no sound coming from left speaker.
Installed latest realtek driver from Gigabyte site and both speakers worked.
Then while my gf was playing Oblivion the left speaker cut out again.
Now I can't seem to get it to work again.
Tested the speakers in my main rig and they both work.
I've un/reinstalled drivers, tried front and rear input, searched for a windows or BIOS setting that would fix it, but nothing helps.
Still no sound from the left speaker.
I'm not convinced yet that it's a hardware problem... there must be something I'm missing.

left speaker cut out again
judging by what is said here this happened before?
first things first is the volume set up as single or dual slider.
is it onboard sound?
did you test the sound through the direct x ( type in to make "dxdiag" in run) sure that it is not software issue.
does this happen with all sound or just games , eg when you run music does it only come out of one speaker as well as the operating system sounds like open close reboot startup.

Well... both speakers are working now.
Not really sure why though.
Had a similar issue with my main rig and it was fixed in a similar mysterious way.

Last night I went through a few hours of messing with drivers and looking for some kind of fix.
Today I uninstalled audio drivers and ATI catalyst drivers and disabled anything I could think of that could be affecting audio settings.
I even did a system restore but still no sound from the left speaker.
Switched speakers from rear green input to rear black input and had no sound at all.
Switched back to rear green... now both speakers work.
Not sure why it works now, or why it wouldn't work before...

What kind of HW problem though?
The audio is working fine now... both speakers.
As I said, I had a similar issue with my main rig... not sure how I fixed it though.
From my reading the best guess I have is that there is some kind of conflict between the Vista audio drivers, the ATI HDMI driver, and the realtek ones...
Though I don't have any ATI stuff on my main rig so I don't know about that one.
Either way, it works now... for now.
