Noctua NF-P12 Comment Thread

shoot. oh well guess i'll have to pay $4 more :|

any opinions on fan model/type placement?

Hey SKY, I may try my hand in seeing if I can persuade Scythe into getting some demo units out to you. Also, they have started manufacturing some 650 and 800W powersupplies, which should be interesting to say the least. I'll PM you to get some info, and see what I can do tomorrow. Awesome review.

Advice wanted

I have the Silverstone TJ09 case. This case has:

1 exhaust fan (standard with the case)
2 top mounted exhaust fans (optional)
1 mid-case intake fan (standarrd with the case)
1 HD cage fan (optional)

My plan is to use the P12 for my heatsink (TU120) and for the HD cage fan (its placed in-between the two HD cages; it sucks air through the lower cage down through slits made in the case. I figure this is a good candidate for the P12's abilities).

Ignoring price, what would be the right mix of fans (model/type)?

My Noctua's just arrived. Haven't had a chance to actually install them, but I hooked one up to a mobo header to try it out, and holy :censored:!

I went from the 1350 rpm YL's to the 1200's to make things quieter, but these things, even at full speed, are quieter still! Using those inline resistors... unreal. I wasn't too impressed with Noctua's earlier fans, but these things are bloody amazing.

That said, my backofhand-o-meter suggests that the 1200 rpm YL's might be moving a little more air as open fans, so I'll probably save these for when my TRUE arrives.

Yeah, I was ordering a couple of HDDs as well, and express shipping worked out to be less than a dollar extra.

I just got my fans... wow are they ever UGLY! :haha:

I thought they'd be a little more reddish like in the pics but they are really brown and pukey, pink beige *yuck* :P

Luckily no-one will be seeing these babies as they are not going in plain sight *whew*. Hopefully I'll have time to play with em after puppy training tonight! Puppies are much cuter than these fans so I'd better post pics just to offset the bad taste in colour palette chosen by Noctua - LOL

I bought 2 of them I planned to use 1 on the Ultra 120, the other as en exhaust fan for my case ( Antec P182 ) The static pressure is good so I'm going to keep the one on the Ultra 120. However, as an exhaust fan, I think the Yate Loon D12SL-12 moves more air and I found them to be quieter. Also, they are much cheaper.

Not according to their specs or the HWC review: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru...ws/3792-noctua-nf-p12-120mm-fan-review-6.html
But yes YLs are a good price. I am liking my Noctuas. But did I mention how ugly they are - LOL?
