Daz Protect (or equivalent + distilled) for liquid. I used a lot of pre mixes over the past 20 years and they get expensive and the fancy ones are a pain, or separate causing a disaster. Don't use automotive coolant as mentioned it's been done and it can be a disaster but Linus also didn't really start with a perfectly clean radiator IIRC it was pretty gross.

Speed control on a pump isn't really that useful. Long term I found it best to just run them at static speeds.

DDC pumps don't last nearly as long as D5 pumps, DDC pumps tend to run hotter and burn out sooner. And I found D5 pumps to be quieter. General rule DDC has higher head pressure but D5 has higher flow rates. Inside a general computer case you don't need the higher head pressure.

I pre-wash flush/wash everything with vinegar in the loop, then flush the vinegar out with tap water, then I'll flush the tap water out with the distilled. Once flushed I'll fill it properly then add the protectant.

Dyes tend to stain soft tubing and some soft tubing will turn cloudy over time even faster when there are dyes and other additives.

Careful advising people to flush with vinegar. If it isn't completely flushed out after, can cause issues with loop later. The reality is hot water and finish with distilled is more than enough in most cases. The only thing that should be dirty is the rads. If they are new they will have Flux from manufacturing in them.

DDC is recommended when space is an issue. They both are industrial pumps that will last a long time if taken care of. The DDC requires some airflow around it. Both pumps are overkill for what most loops need tbh.

Just use a tubing like ZMT to avoid issues of staining and leeching of plasticizers like the clear tubes end up doing over time. Both EK and Watercool sell EPDM tubing.

Every type of tube I have ever bought from a water cooling store beside the black solid-colored stuff has given problems, so I started using the clear tubing you can buy from your local hardware store and have not had one problem with it, used it for many years, mind you a lot of it has tiny writing on it which most wouldn't want in there cooling looking loop, but for me, water cooling is all about the cooling part.

a note on vinegar it will cause copper to tarnish and corrode much faster, I would only use distilled water or tap water to rinse if I use hot tap water then I would rinse with distilled after, but most of us here have been water cooling on and off for many years and we all kind of find different things that worked over the years.

using car coolant can be done but must be careful, cause from what I have read its not the loop parts that cause a problem it not making sure they're properly cleaned before using them also there are many different types, I would only use a basic glycol and water it down at least 25 to 1, I can remember back in the day, a lot of the pc coolant was just that "car coolant", the Thermaltake coolant I used many moons ago was just car coolant/antifreeze and was nothing but water and dye with glycol.

right now I am using the EK-cryofuel clear in my loop and I am very happy with it so far been in there for over a year and not a thing wrong with it and that loop sits all week only being turned on over the weekends

I'm still using an ancient bottle of petra's which is copper(II) Sulfate + Distilled Water. A few drops of that into the loop and I've never had a problem.

Just be advised that it doesn't play nice with nickel plated blocks. All copper is good to go.

I use Distilled water and a silver wire with a all bras loop. No problems just add water every so often.

So a quick update on this thread. I'm working with Jokester to pick up some of his used items and he's relatively close (package mailing wise). I probably need to still pick up a few things like split and a ball valve. Anyone used PC Liquid Pro based out of Quebec?
