Not far from Toronto, not far enough!
Well I'm skipping this generation of GPU's but I can see going Nvidea 5000 series when released. More video memory please could clinch it! Perhaps AMD will compete better next time around but I suspect not?
Exciting dayz ahead?

Not until 2025 if that source is correct. As much as I get excited for new GPUs, they have been pricing themselves out of the market. I really fear that PC gaming is going to become even more niche if GPU prices maintain ("force" more people and the next generations to console).

read this interesting observation / opinion piece about Nvidia and their DLSS 3, frame generation and super resolution tech. most insightful.

Thanks for posting (I didn't see that before). It speaks to exactly what my thoughts were of DLSS3 since I first heard of it. It's a neat tech, but it carries negatives...input lag of essentially the non-dlss 3 fps being a big one.

makes me wonder if Nvidia was hinging the 4000 generation on the new features / functions and potential performance gains that came with their latest revision of the tech...and it fell flat on its face. LoL!

I've been happy with both AMD(currently) and Nvidea products but AMD needs to up there game for me to stay AMD next time around!

Well it'll be interesting to see if FSR 3 can up their game. But I don't think we have an actual release date for that yet...

This is an interesting quote from that link, and likely true if the drive continues to higher fidelity graphics are 4K, and even 8K I suppose some day (bolded bits by me):

"Catanzaro's statement was in response to a question from Valadas regarding DLSS and whether Nvidia planned to prioritize native resolution performance in its GPUs. Catanzaro pointed out that improving graphics fidelity through sheer brute force is no longer an ideal solution, due to the fact that "Moore's Law is dead." As a result, Catanzaro explained, smarter technologies like DLSS need to be implemented to improve graphics fidelity and circumvent the otherwise low gen-on-gen performance improvements seen in todays graphics hardware."

Interesting. I am definitely on board with advancing ways to get more FPS at equivalent or better visuals and that it is here to stay, but I am not sure I would go as far as saying "native resolution gaming is out".

As resolutions continue to spike (for those who adopt it) I absolutely agree that native res gaming may become unachievable and these methods will be essential. But given 1080p and 1440p still have extremely widespread adoption and use (where these technologies are much weaker), I think native res will remain for quite a few more years...and by that time, driving 4k at native shouldn't be out of the question for mid-range GPUs.

I still feel this whole segment has evolved because of the gaining traction and lowered price of 4k monitors monitors without a concurrent leap in GPUs...personally I will be staying at 1440p for some time still.

I do also hope FSR3 performs well IOT better balance the brands feature sets, but I would still take more raw performance from a GPU over relying on needing FSR3/DLSS...whichever brand offers better raw performance/$ would still get my purchase (with power/vram/feature sets being secondary factors to break close calls or sway my decision).
