Doing 5000 ppd with a 8800GT is amazing! You guys have no idea what it took less than a year ago to generate ~5000 ppd with a Q6600. It was hard... I mean you had to set up Vmware, then install Dual Linux instances and configure dual Linux SMP clients... and if you wanted to start a new adventure, you could try to install Fahmon and link all that together through Windows...

Now it's just a matter on installing the GPU client on a 8800GT and voila. Done deal!

Wish I knew about this when I started with SETI back in 98, I would have being doing something good with my pc, besides gaming.
Glad 5000 PPD is great, now if I OC my card more will it help any, or do I need a better card to get higher PPD.

I was getting ~5200 ppd with an oc'ed XFX 8800GT XXX. If you wish to break the 6000 ppd, a new card (GTX260, 9800GT+) is needed.

I was just thinking this, of getting a new card maybe a eVGA 9800GT or BFG. since I see them for $150.

So not even the 4870 X2 does not do to well at folding. with all that power you would think it would do great.
3.0charlie what does your GTX 280's get when folding.

To get more PPD's you need to overclock the shaders as much as possible, OC'ing the mem and core don't seem to make much of a difference...

As 3.0 Charlie said, a better card get's more points... My 9800GTX is getting 5800 to 6100 PPD, a GTX+ should be over 6200 easy and a 260 around 7000. Or you can go big like 3.0 and have twin 280's at close to 8000 PPD each or GX2's at 10000 each if you can get both corees running...

Are we hooked yet ??? :haha:
