Thinking of getting a 500 GB nvme SSD for boot and everyday activities, however, my system only has PCIe 2.0, I think. I have a Z77 but with an i7-2600. That's PCIe 2.0 right, IIRC? So, would it make sense to go with a PCIe 4.0 drive? PCIe 2.0 x4 that would be maxed out at 2GB/s, on paper. Should I buy a newly developed drive, thinking that only the large media files transfers would be limited on performance but let's say the random 4k read/write metrics won't be impacted that much ? Some options I am considering are Samsung 970 Evo plus, 980, or SN 770, the last two are dram-less, but SN770 got Editor's Choice at Thessdreview.com.
