Old budget laptop upgraded from Win8 to 10: questions

Tiny 10 is gutted version of win 10 so a lot less telemetry. There are muck less that wants to get out.


Edit: There is also " SpyBot Anti Beacon " it blocks allot of WIN telemetry also.

I wonder what's more efficient: Tiny10 or some version of Linux? Would Linux run ok on this thing?

yup. take a look at Mint... there are three flavors for current hardware, older but usable and then one for ancient gear.

I use linux mint xfce on a lenovo t60, it should be fine.

Once booted, it uses around 1.2 GB, so you got memory left for apps.

what is the T60 used for? and daaamn that's almost beyond ancient!

It was given to me a few years ago, because it was not Windows 10 compatible.

I keep it for some windows xp baremetal apps and games.

But yeah, it does not have any gpu acceleration in ubuntu, so forget streaming site like youtube

a T60 is only good for running ancient games on, LoL!
