My wife had an old laptop she liked but we gave it to a friend years ago, but like that cat, the laptop came back. Now I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A100 sitting on my desk, it does boot up fine, Microsoft warns me the O.S. is no longer supported.

Celeron® M 430-1.73GHz processor
one whole GB of RAM (2 X 512MB DDR2 533 MHz)
a 80 GB HD (9.5mm height, Serial-ATA)

Runs VISTA!

I tried to open it up to see if I could put in a different HD (have a 1TB laptop one spare) but could not find the openning for the HD, did get to the motherboard and saw the RAM but not the HD.
I found the manual on line, it is detailed but no diagram of insides and no mention of replacing the HD. Although RAM is upgradable. (Not that I would).

This even has a modem (maybe I turn it into a fax machine - there have been times I wished I had a fax at home - yep it has happened).

Could also be a DVD player for my grandkids to watch movies.

OR not.

If you can't find the HDD by removing the back cover, it's probably under the keyboard.

As far as what to do with it???? Throw linux on it and use it as a fax if that function works? I dunno.... at some point all electronics become landfill.
