oh dear. Iso and a soft tooth brush and an abundance of patience? I wouldn't soak it in ISO tho, it could get under the IHS and cause issues. Me and @3.0charlie killed a cpu at Ross' place a few years ago hehe.

This stuff? If it is, it has zero electrical conductivity. I'd get a very soft bristled tooth brush and try to remove as much as possible, then plug it in.

Thank you I'll try the tooth brush I have the 99% iso i used a toothpick got most of it out a needle and tooth brush should get the rest of it.

And @Sagath yes that's the stuff I don't see how it even got under there.

yeah, dont worry about getting it uber clean. As long as there is bare wire the socket will grab it.

what about flushing it with super hot boiling water first? get rid of the majority so the brushing can be even lighter?
