Overclocking Issue?

Hello all, I was put on to this site from a dude I was talking with at ncix today, looks like a cool site.

I have been messing around with OCing for a while now but have encountered a problem. www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1832 I tried to follow this guide to up the clock in my system but when I set it to manual and set the clock from 2.0 to 2.2 then rebooted I would look at cpuz or my system specs it says my clock is running at 1.4?? I have no idea why this is happening. But if I set it to run in AI mode I can overclock at the full 10%.

Another thing where would the memory divider be located in the bios? I can't seem to find it. And also the HTT Multiplier can't seem to locate that either.

Current bios that I am running is 1009, tried running the beta version thats out but was getting some instability issues so reverted back to the latest version.

Any help getting this bitch OC'd would be great.

I think I can take a couple stabs at what the problems you're having are...

When you want to overclock the processor, you should go from 200MHz HTT to 220MHz HTT in order to get 2.2GHz effective clock. Most motherboards don't have an actual setting to go from 2.0 to 2.2.

The HTT multiplier probably wouldn't be necessary for such a minor overclock, but sometimes it's called MCP link or something along those lines.

If you wanted to post a couple of pics of your BIOS screens I'd be able to help you a lot more :s

As far as I know there has never been a way to take a screenshot of the BIOS. I think the only way is snap a picture with a digital camera and upload.;)

Hey I used to have an A8N32-SLI deluxe and my BIOS looked a lot like that. I should be able to help you out a little bit.

in BIOS Image 1 do the following:

- go to PEG link mode and set to normal (if available) or disabled
- go to onboard device configuration and set anything you don't need to disabled (ie if you never use firewire, then just turn it off)

in BIOS image 2 do the following:

Overclock profile: Manual
CPU frequency: 220
PCIe clock: 100
DDR voltage: 2.8V
chipset voltage: 1.6V
HT Voltage: 1.2V
CPU multiplier: 10
CPU voltage: keep it set to auto
PCI clock synchronization mode: 33.3MHz (if this isn't an option, don't change anything, and post back here with a picture of the options)

In BIOS image 3 do the following:

-go into DRAM configuration and set your RAM timings to stock timings manually
- KEEP COOL 'N QUIET DISABLED
- Set hyper transport frequency to 800MHz or 1600MHz, whichever option it is. This is equivalent to setting your HT multi to 4x.

Let me know if you have any more questions :)

Hello again, so I tried those setting and all I get is the ol blue screen warning.

I have been looking for weeks for a solution to this maybe someone else who has had simular problems but nothing. All I find is people saying what a great overclocking board this is well I haven't seen it. AI overclocking @ 10% which is 2.20 seems to be the only overclocking I can do with this board? I am thinking of reverting back to the 1008 bios to see if that would work. At a loss :(

that's pretty bizarre... I'm at a bit of a loss too. Maybe try the older BIOS?
