MY Father's Laptop had its 60GB Hard drive split in two equal partitions. This was done at the factory. Can this partition be un-done without affecting the Files? (and the current windows installation).

The 2nd partition is not used by my father, but I am wondering if the computer would STILL be sped up by removing the partition?

That 2nd partition is a recovery partition and you'll notice absolutely no differece in using it except a few extra gigs of space.

Both Partitions are about 30 gigs, but space is not the issue.

Would the Computer run AT ALL faster if the hard drive was a single partition? (Keeping in mind the 2nd partition is not intentionally used, but it may be used by the system without my knowing).

Even a small speed boost would be a nice bonus

Only benefit would be you'd have one 60GB partition instead of two 30GB partitions.

Increasing the RAM would be the biggest speed boost.
