I have an hdmi cable and i am usually able to connect my pc to my tv using this cable. But the last time i tried to do it the picture on my tv comes up slanted and distorted. But this works on my other tv so i know it is not the cable or the PC. maybe it could be a resolution issue or something of that sort. Any advice or help will be greatly appreciated.

Lower the resolution of the laptop.

Overscan is a feature provided in some graphics card drivers that allows you to "scale" or change the size of a PC image on a TV screen (in laymans terms). However, setting this too high can sometimes cause the visual corruption youre seeing.

One last thing, make sure youre TV isnt set to stretch or zoom the image too much, that may be affecting it as well.

i have fixed the slanting problem and the image is visible by changing the aspect ratio on the tv from 16:9 to 4:3 but now the image on the tv is skinny using only about 60% of the actul screen.
