You guys planning to put any kind of protection on the camera bar area itself
Not entirely certain what the Pixel 6 is as it only says Gorilla Glass 6 on the back, Victus on the front, but the Pro says Gorilla Glass Victus is on the front, back and camera bar. I've never been concerned about scratching the camera lens though, usually it has high quality glass on it anyhow.

This Bellroy case does have a plastic lip around the camera too though, so it's got extra protection now anyways. All the cases I've looked at seem to have some sort of lip around the camera, so I think you should be fine.

Yeah the 6 non-pro is a bit more mysterious about the materials.

I did get the $9.99/month protection plan. I know... I'm likely a sucker there and I almost never add that to products but I figured that does cover accidental damage (I'm sure there's some fine print somewhere...) and I figure after a year if things have faired well the value of the phone will have depreciated enough and I'll cancel it :)

The 6 does have just the flat screen, no rounded edges, so that is certainly easier for applying a front screen protector.

So... still waiting for arrival. Order says by 1-2 Dec now. I'm hoping that still means 2021 ;)

Did I mention that it takes me a long time to make up my mind to buy something but once I do I'm not particularly patient? lol

Heh.... that seems to be the norm in these days of supply chain shortages.... hell, by the time your well thought out high tech purchase finally arrives, it's got a good chance of already being obsolete.... ;)

Seriously though, I think we're finally getting to the point where cell phone tech isn't overtaking a typical 2yr tab balance before it's paid off. :)

Yup, I think you're absolutely right. Heck my Pixel 3 is still doing fine. This is definitely a fun purchase vs a "need" purchase. I could have gone with getting it from Koodo, might have had it sooner, but I bought direct from Google this time.

Just picked up the Spigen thin fit. Took forever (I ordered it Oct. 21) and it's a solid case if you want something small that givesall around coverage. Buttons clicky, and there is a lip around the front so you can lay face-down.

That said, I still like the Bellroy better just because I like the leather and colour. I'll save the Spigen for a time if I get bored or need something thinner.

There is a new update released to certain US carriers out of cycle that apparently improves the fingerprint scanner a lot. The FPS has been annoying for me, but not enough right now that I want to go through the hassle of getting adb set up and sideloading the OTA. I would rather wait for something right now that my carrier will push out...with a phone this new I would rather play it safe right now with these updates.

Is that still a thing? I thought most phones these days up graded/dated via the OTA schedule as opposed to anything controlled by the individual carriers.

I'm inclined to say the update was only for the models with mmWave 5G? Those were only sold at carriers that support it I think? I guess it gives them an opportunity to beta test with a small subset of users, without asking for consent
