I was just thinking about this and am curious how many prefer the monitor a bit larger with reduced pixel density, and how many prefer resolution above all else. Please keep in mind that I am referring to a typical desk where your monitor is within a few feet. What's your 1080p ideal?

I would say 23-24 would be about what I would want for 1080p.

But really I just prefer 2560x1440 on my 27"

Depends, I'm running dual 24" 1920x1200, but whenever 4K displays come out, I'm considering swapping to a single main ~30" 4K with a second ~20" 1080p monitor in portrait mode.

The nexus 10 isI a $400 tablet with 2560*1600 resolution. I think we need to see the end of this 1080p in a 27" panel crap, stop milking the technology and give me a 2560x1600 24" monitor that isn't $1000 and then I'll behhappy.

With that said I think these days 1080 should be at largest in a 22", anything less dense than that should be $100

I'd even accept as large as 23" @ 1080p, but that's it. Anything beyond that and I might as well buy a TV with a PC input.

Without a doubt, 24". I find it a happy medium.

What do you mean by 4K?

I forgot to answer my own poll. For me I also lean towards 24". Above that I can see a reduction in clarity. I don't have an issue with 21.5, but I do like the bit of screen area.

3840x2160

Intel just updated Thunderbolt to officially support 4K - my bet is Apple ships a 4K Thunderbolt monitor when they finally update the Mac Pro with Haswell and Thunderbolt, at 27" 2160p you get perfect scaling to 1080p UI.
