The cans and stack of papers just reminded me of an old computer I had ~2001ish. The case had a rattle in it and I had found placing a stack of paper and some weights on it caused the rattle to go away.I didn't want to desecrate @Shadowarez battlestation thread with this...but here's my current setup at the dinner table in the living room.

as if those are real. you can tell they were totally staged for the sake of posterity!I mean... just go back and look at the first couple posts in this thread...![]()
I do have plans...@Marzipan hey now youres is functional mine was like moes crystal shelf lol that thing was waitin to fall apart. now im just ocd about getting things working a few L Brackets some wood screws and ill be able to custom fit a nice monitor arm on it and free up some space.
The easy/cheap one here is 2x4 Kallax without installing all the shelves with the TV wall mounted above it (wall mounting gives more usable surface on top.) But leaving some of the shelves out during assembly creates wide enough spaces for things like A/V gear...
similar to the table, an oak veneer tv center when CRT's were still a thing. biggest handicap to getting it replaced is whatever goes there needs to have a lot of space to put my FiL A/V gear. turntable, VCR, DVD Player, CD Player, Integrated Amplifier, Input Switch and I'm sure I'm forgetting one thing, but it's not coming to me at the moment.
...

I have no skillz, but have been thinking about having plywood cut up into thinner slats and then slide together with half-lap joints cut into em. I would end up with something like what you show, but can be easily customized and still be good with load bearing weight. The easy/cheap one here is 2x4 Kallax without installing all the shelves with the TV wall mounted above it (wall mounting gives more usable surface on top.) (basement is a disater right now but figured an image would help). Upstairs I didn't take this approach but I managed to find a subwoofer that fits inside the cubes.
