Ratuken has a 15% ebate today for PetSmart. And PetSmart had 20% off online with SAVE20 promo code.

Edit: discounts stack too. The $10 off if you spend $40 on Blue Buffalo Tastefuls did. And it applies after the 20% off. $66 bag of food would be a $43 plus your 15% rebate. What a steal. Shame you can only do one per order.
I was looking for this post all over the place, like in the hot deals thread, and I couldnt find it. I was able to find it again by looking at your post history.

Anyways, to make a long story short, thank you so much. My wife was able to stock up nicely on kitty litter. (y)

I got $200 worth of cat food for about $126. Made multiple orders and make use of the $10 off the Blue Buffalo food I mentioned above.

As for litter, not sure if you've tried using wood pellets. I buy 40 pound bags of spruce pellets from Peavey Mart for $8. It masks urine smell so much better than clay. And it lasts a long time. I've spent maybe $25 in litter in the last year for my 2 cats. I bought a different type of pellet once and it wasn't near as good as spruce. Spruce dries so much faster for some reason. After it tries urine has zero odour.

We have a litter robot and it needs clumping clay. I have mentioned it to my wife but she vetoed it right away. I also have fragrance sensitivity so we have to use a certain brand as well.

Yes it expensive. 4 cats can certainly shit and piss a lot. I’m certainly regretting it niw they are all big. Those kittens really drew me in.

EDIT: I also asked my wife about food, but since she is the manager at a vet she gets the food for cost already.

you think 4 cats is expensive? we've got the 8 and also mostly switched over to wood pellets. we have one cat that shits outside the box if all are pellets so one is a mix of those and clay and that seems enough to placate whoever it is. we still go through a lot of pellets, but at $8 / bag, the cost is a fraction of clay!

@lowfat how do you clean your boxes? wife jury-rigged an old dish rack by wrapping it in mesh wire. she dumps the box contents into and sifts out the sawdust made by the urine into a container that leaves only the clean pellets. it's begun to fall apart so I bought a galvanized soil sifter today to replace it. that way if the 1/4" mesh is too big I can jb weld something a bit smaller in.

I also have a dog and 5 kids. Your turn.

Edit: the litter robot is more trouble than its worth too. Good thing she bought the warranty because it broke so many times. They are at least good about sending replacement parts. My wife also bought some counter spikes. I just cant keep these guys off of them. And the table too. I told my wife they are worse than the mice we had during covid lockdown. 🤣

one dog, three grandkids (over 4 or 5 days of the week and they usually bring their dog) and two seniors (wife's parents) needing 24/7 care; one w/ dementia (82) and the other (91) mostly blind, mostly deaf and mostly invalid from a stroke.

dun dun DUUUN!!!

sorry that turned so dark and serious crazyea. at least they don't use the litter. I'm not sure the spruce would mask the smell, LoL!!!

Originally I just drilled hundreds of holes into the bottom of a tote. Then put it inside another tote. But now I mostly use a 3d printed scoop / sieve. It takes me maybe 10 minutes a day to clean so haven't bothered looking in to other solutions.

with 6 or 7 boxes, it's a much more involved chore for my wife, so needs something more.

if my sciatica ever settles, I'll be able to help and make it an easier and quicker process too.
