Work in progress Project Titan: my delayed Ryzen 5900x Gamer Build!

And you already know this @CMetaphor but I’m still very happy with my 5900X for gaming and everything else. I’d love to upgrade to AM5 just cause it’s fun, but I definitely don’t need a change for anything I play. Looks like yours is going to be a nice system!

The 5900X in stock form is very easy to run. I can run mine semi passive up to 180w.

Heat on a stock R9 is a none issue.
I'm not worried at all about 5900x, just not used to aiming heat directly at a tiny PSU. Going to try it anyways, because if I flip the PSU to face the "back", I'll have no place to hide the commander core. Hiding wiring is still something I enjoy, and would prefer not to leave the commander and ... checking... 15-16 wire bundles exposed haha.

I was implying that there should be very minimal, if any heat coming from that 5900X.. unless you start playing with PBO.. as soon as you touch negative offset the CPU is gonna wanna push its clocks upwards until it runs out of PPT/TDC/EDC.

At least that is how mine is.. she's a runner :D

Been away from this project for bit, but finally got back to it today. Worked out the last hurdles, installing W11 right now 🤘

... obviously the wiring isnt finalized yet haha

What's wrong with the wiring??? :)

Looks tight, but that sure is a pretty case.
Had to rotate the 280mm Capellix, found a way to make the pipes fit without any serious bends. Had to shift the sfx psu with a different from-atx-to-sfx arapter plate to make enough space.

Thanks tho! The Ophion Elite is quite the case, cooling-wise. Pretty happy with it so far, but benchmarks and testing will see how it really handles so heat. Will get there soonish...

... or not. Critical fail. Impasse reached.

The case is gorgeous. The cooling epic.
... and the gpu doesn't fit.

Yeah... call me an idiot, please. For the testing and rough builds, I used a tri -slot 1660 or a 3070 blower gpu. Trislot to test the width, blower to test the length. Everything looked good. But now that ive put in my 3080 trislot... yep.

The pcie cables completely stick out, with almost nowhere to route them elsewhere.

Open to suggestions here. Going to look into something I remember from a while back: eVGA made a PCIe power... thingy. An attachment for their gpus that would bring all the pcie power connections to the front edge of the card (bottom of the case, in my case, pun intended).

Otherwise, not sure what I'll do. The card is just a bit too tall, and even that bracket will likely mean no side panel.

This whole build might have to be aborted and moved into a different case. Ugh.

Ugh... no calling out idiot. Made similar "oversights" myself in a few builds over the years.

It looks very tight for those cables. This might be what you are thinking of already with the eVGA thingy, but would there be any type of 90 degree adaptor that might work? Really not sure though as you look to have little space on the edge of the fan bracket. Hmmm...

I wonder would you have space for something like this for example? Amazon link:

Same idea, but since the GPU looks like it's effectively flush with the side panel already, I don't think anything will work. The fan bracket is also far too close.

I suspect the only way to make this work would be to de-solder the connectors, attach some leads to them and have it dangle down.

Is there any space between the top of the vid card and the case side? If there is, 90deg might be the solution.
