Microsoft is at it again.... pushing a video card update that's incompatible with Adrenalin, and not taking "no" for an answer if you reinstall the Adrenalin version over top of it. (It just keeps re-installing the "update" driver over top of it).

Took me a while to remember that the solution in the past has been to "Roll Back" the update driver to the previous Adrenalin one and it will stop overwriting the driver you want.

And it looks like the roll back option isn't preventing it from re-installing it. :(

I've "paused" updates for 4 weeks to see if AMD releases a newer version (or at the very least, higher version number) so that microsoft isn't attempting to overwrite it.

If you're running Pro, there's an option in group policy (gpedit.msc) to exclude drivers from Windows Update:

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update > Manage updates offered from Windows Update
That would disable all driver updates thought right, not just AMD drivers?

Well.... I'm not sure what to think now.....

I'm starting to think that I might have an intermittent hardware issue that's causing the driver to fail and the system to disable the video card. At first it was limited to when I was playing D IV, but I just had it fail while on the desktop.

I just reseated both the video card and the vertical mount, and reseated all of the gpu's power cables so we'll see where it goes from here. Going to be difficult to troubleshoot between a PSU and GPU issue as I don't have a spare 750 - 850W PSU to slave in for testing.

Of course there's still the glaring fact that Windows appears to have installed an AMD driver on the same day I started having these issues... :(

I've done a safe mode DDU and installed the latest AMD display drivers, but that didn't seem to do the trick. I may have to do a bloody full install just to convince myself that it's not a software issue.

Hope it doesn't turn out to be anything serious. Sucks to have to mess around in that new build.

I am using the same vertical mount as you, and I have an issue with my two monitors where if I bump the display port cables, at the GPU end, I'll lose the connection to the monitor. It isn't a huge deal... just don't bump the cables once both monitors are working :) Not sure if it is vertical mount related somehow, GPU related, or monitor/cable related. Another one of those things to troubleshoot on the someday to-do list, but as long as it keeps working I don't think about it.
