Q6600/Q6700 Price drop

I know this has been rumoured for a while, but I just saw the Q6700 on Canada Computers' site for $299!!!

That's a good deal for that chip.

I know there's not much in the way of data on it, but with the 10x multi on what should be a higher binned Q6600, that's a pretty attractive price.

The Q6700 are great little chips, the 10X multi is really a bonus,
And with this price being lower than any of the new 45nm quad core it makes them attractive.

Question is - Spend more for the 9450 and 45nm tech/1333FSB or stick with what you know works.

(Though if you notice I used a 9x multi anyways, show this would be acheivable with a Q6600 if you get the right one)

If they don't have them in stock now, I wouldn't hold my breath for them to get some in.

Pity, as a 10X multi quad would have been appealing, especially for those of us with P965 boards who won't be able to run the new chips.

All the Q6700 are $500+...damn. Those were some good clocks you got on it!

that is a great price!...I have 1 with 103 hrs on it for sale on ebay with a reserve lower then Can Comps price and no taxes...have a look, if interested let me know here and we'll see what we can do.

I just bought one....the downtown Canada Computers had one in stock when I went in to buy some parts, so I grabbed it for $299.

Meh...no 4GHz here so far.

Still a decent chip, but I think that the Q6600 is the way to go. The 10 multi hasn't really factored in so far. 10x400 will get into Windows at 1.55v but won't Prime.

I haven't gone higher because temps at those volts went up into the 70's even on water. Ambient is about 22.

I don't mean to burst anyone's bubble but I'm disappointed with that SuperPI run of an overclocked Q6700 to 4.2GHz. Doing the 1M test took just under 13 seconds.

My Q9450 overclocked to just 3.2GHz manages the same feat in just under 14 seconds.

I was hoping that if this Q6700 is faster than my Q9450 by a whole 1GHz, it would do the SuperPI much faster than just 1 second...

And holy cow! Do you see the voltage needed on that Q6700?! 1.58V. A Q9450 at 3.2GHz just needs 1.2V. What are your load temps with that anyway? Surely you're using watercooling or something...
