Hello fellows,

So what do we know about the AMD Threadripper 3rd Generation 7nm HEDT?

1. Number of cores;

2. Core speeds; and

3. Cost?

Thank you,

I think it will have 64 cores like the Epic. Not sure on the cost but under $2,500 would be nice :whistle:

As others have said we know nothing yet. But I will take my stab at predicting it. First I don't think we will hear anything until mid-summer-ish around the Zen 2 release.

1. Core count will start at 16 and reach 48 cores (maybe more but I'm thinking not). So 16, 24, 32 and 48 core

2. Speeds, I think this is where we will see the improvement over last gen. Currently we are seeing base clocks of 3.5GHz for 12/16 core and 3.0GHz for 24/32. I think we will see that bumped to 3.5GHz for 16/24/32 core (maybe 3.7 for 16). Boosts I'm thinking between 4.2 and 4.7GHz.

3. Not cheap. :biggrin: Well cheaper than anything from Intel, but not cheap. Right now the 2990WX 32core is about $2400, so I would guess the next 32 core one will be about that, maybe a little cheaper say $2200. 48 core though I would think $2800-3000.

Of course this is all a complete guess. For all I know they could come out with a 64 core beast running at 4GHz base with 5GHz boost for only $2500, but I highly doubt that.
