Hey guys, ive found some ram id like to buy but im not sure if its compatible with my board .
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3L LGA 775 Intel P45 is my mobo
Ive attached a picture of the ram.
Its ddr2 800 pc6400 4x4 gb . Not sure if its amd ram ..
Thank in advance!
Memory standards have nothing to do with CPU manufacturers. In theory the RAM you mentioned should work however having all 4 banks populated may not work or need to bump the voltage to get it be stable. If you can get a screenshot of been tested (MemTest screenshot) then I would try it.
Good luck with that : that is the kind of ram that doesn't work on 775 boards, only on AM2. The seller will probably tell you that outright. Because Intel compatible 4GB DDR2 ram modules are about 80 cad each, even on eBay. This is how your ram is supposed to look and you can see that the description mention Intel motherboard DDR2 16GB 4x4GB RAM PC2-6400 DDR2-800Mhz 240pin Desktop Memory For Intel&AMD MB | eBay
Not sure i really need to upgrade though... Ive been using 8gb with 3dsmax for a while, do you think 16 will help? Im rendering with iray so its more graphics card (CUDA core) heavy which ive just bought a gtx1060 6gb to help. Havent tested it yet cause im waiting for my psu and backplate to be delivered...
So 400$ is a bit nuts to spend on such old equipment eh.. As i was saying, im not sure i really need to upgrade ... Ive been using 8gb with 3dsmax for a while, do you think 16 will help?
