My dryer's on the fritz... bloody thing won't turn off unless the door is open or I pull the plug. It's a known issue with the controller board on these models.

Some glad I bought the costco extended warranty (even if it's probably going to take me forever to get through to the samsung's warranty site.......

While I'm on the subject.... wth can't they make appliances last longer than 1 1/2 years these days? It's some kind of interlock relay on a control board.... source some better components!!!!!!!

Hrmmmm..... managed to get the request in via Samsung's chat. I'm not convinced that was a live person on the other end of the chat, the responses really felt canned (like the old "so how do you feel about that" response bots, but with a bigger dictionary and more precise catalog of responses).

Doing it on a pc... so pretty miffed with the requirement for me to use my cell phone's text to send them a picture of the sales receipt... what if I didn't have a cell phone at all let alone text?

edit: I'm also not impressed with the fact that there's no case# attached to the file... just a statement that I'll get an email within 24 hours (also no case# listed on the chat transcript I had emailed to me). What happens if I don't get the email??? I suspect I'd end up having to redo everything from scratch... :(

Theres a new law that is coming in to effect in the EU (soon?) where manufacturers of appliances must support the item with parts for 10 years. I think the likely outcome of this is better designed items.

I'm hopeful (with a big dose of realism) that this will have an effect on the north american market the same way.

Well... just like California Emissions setting national standards (whether or not the WH wants that) for motor vehicles, something like this would just naturally trickle down to other markets... they're not going to make two different models. (Although... I remember back in the day when oldsmobile parts were exactly the same as their less expensive GM parts except for the mounting positions.... :) ).

Don't you love ordering from a new site that's .ca and shows prices in CAD, but ships stuff from the states and it ends up in CBSA hell? 2 weeks so far and no movement.

A lot of my ski stuff is like this. Its usually only a couple days though at most from my experience.

Were taxes paid for on the bill? Thats the only way I can see there being a delay.
