I'm pissed off because my home insurance has jumped something like 70%-80% in the last two years. I went from $900/year to $1700/yr. My insurance company blames in on massive disasters where entire neighbourhoods have been wiped out - the fires in Fort Mac, fires in Jasper, fires in LA, flooding in BC, and Hurricanes on the East Coast etc.
My major point of contention is that I choose to live in a place that has a hellish climate - Manitoba. We put up with ungodly cold winters, and quite hot summers. BUT, our climate is relatively stable - we don't deal with wildfires, earthquakes, or hurricanes. Flooding has been mitigated by our government (with high taxes to go with it). So why the hell am I paying for somebody to be able to live in a nice climate like BC or Cali?
