I had an "I'm an idiot" moment in PC building.

The barrow OLED flow meter in my build has seemingly never worked right. It always shows 0.00 L/min with the very occasional flash to 0.21/l/min (the temp readout works though). Thought I must have gotten a bad one, but with the price of returns to ali express it wasn't worth the hassle.

A random reddit post about a build with that same part and it turns out it only works in one direction unless you open it up and reverse the impeller . There was no documentation with it in the container, so I had no way of knowing but.... I felt a little stupid.

I'm not going to rush to drain and fill the system just for that, but at some point I'll likely pull do a partial drain, pull it out and flip the insides around.

Odd, pretty certain mine did. Though I wonder if it's been damaged from running backwards all this time. I've noticed mine makes this sort of rattling sound until all the air is gone from the loop too, so its a few annoying weeks every time I drain/fill.

Looking at the product page it was mentioned for than once. But looking at just the pictures without the pre existing knowledge I could see it being very easy to make that mistake. Not like it says in/out on the outside of it or anything else. Honestly a sticker over the ports "read before removing" or something would make sense.

The sale page on ali express didn't have that diagram (though it did have a sentence mentioning the impeller could be reversed) so I never saw anything quite so 'up front' about it. Not a big deal but I obviously still missed it either way. A sticker, or even a one page manual with the part would have been nice.

Nothing in mine, and I still have the box. Might have been an error from the factory and something they include normally though.

That was from the barrow website not the ali express listings. And only reason I went to barrow directly is because you said something. For clarification wasn't trying to bash you as I feel like that mistake would be easy with how it is advertised on aliexpress.

No worries, it didn't come across that way. I was just saying that nothing came with mine (though JD may have gotten it, so it could be a factory miss on mine).

Something where Barrow has some room to improve on, but also part of the 'risk' of getting Ali Express stuff, never sure what the documentation or quality will be like.

Still mostly happy overall with the stuff I got from them. The CPU block display won't become a startup app no matter what I try (following the instructions buried in their website or trying other things), but it's not really a big concern. Even at couple foot and a half away the text on the block is so small it's hard to read anyway.
