Rants etc.....

ok I wrote what I went through and since i am experimenting with AI chat gpt I pasted my very large post into it and asked it to shorten my original post and well it came out better than m,y long-winded post so these are not my actual words, and I am not going to make a habit of using it, and it even figured out I was using the windows rescue diskpart which I didnt put in the post , this is scary lol


Spent hours yesterday trying to get my Windows drive to boot — followed tons of guides, nothing worked. One video from an Indian guy gave me a clue, though I could barely understand him 😂. While trying commands in diskpart, I kept getting “access denied,” so I almost gave up. I reconnected the drive via USB to format it and noticed an extra NTFS partition before Windows. Just for fun, I deleted it, swapped the drives back — and boom, Windows booted right up! Had to reset my PIN, but wish I’d thought of that 7–8 hours earlier 😅
 
So got some good news on the car, which our muffler tried to fall off on us lol, GM no longer supports a lot of parts for our car since it's 8 years old wtf.

So, the local custom exhaust guy did it from the cat back; it will all be stainless, and it only cost $452 CAD, so I'm happy about that. Compared to the performance exhaust from ZZ Performance, which costs $1000 CAD before installation, that's a significant difference.

The attic rodent problem will be fixed, just waiting a few weeks to be able to seal it all up from next door. The quote for vacuuming it all out and blowing cellulose insulation at an R60 rating is 3225CAD, which I thought was pretty good.

so going to be a pricey Xmas but to be able to fix everything around 4g makes me happy, the one problem I am going to have is trying to make sure I get every possiable way in sealed up, of course Simcoe county when on the defence when I told them the mice came from next door, its was "oh we have never seen mice in there", says the guy who has never gone in the attic. Whatever, I ain't fighting with them since I know it will be sold, hopefully to a nice family.

That is the kind of weather that reminds me of the early 1970s out here on the West Coast in November we would get some snow but then it slowly warmed then Mt Saint Helens bluer early 1980s and the weather turn mostly winter rains for a decade or two Xfiles came out Dechovny called this the Wet Coast complaining because it seems to always rain lol

Took a fit and did a full fresh install on my main rig..... install went a lot smoother than I remember the initial being, but it made me realise how many third party software packages I'm using which will need to be re-configured.

that is why I really dont want to do refresh because have more then a few of those .
on a different note still no Internet installed new modem same issur on hold with the tech guy which I was talking with him for about 50 minutes trying to figure out WTH is going on bu most likely have to send out a rogers tech and since this ISP is not rogers I have to wait which is the price I pay for having a ISP light this even though the prices are like 1/3 or 1/2 when something happened its a real hastle to fix it so this is week two of not having my own Internet which is causing issues when signing into things and also remembers that my shares are open on my network which means they probably are also open on the wifi i hook up to which also means I disconnect and use a PC that isnt sharing anything lol
 
Kinda angry at myself. Actually had ARM working in an LXC then realized ARM doesn't do data disks only media. So messed around with it some and had data disks working through ARM but without status updates and completely broke the LXC and couldn't recover it. But with what I learnt setup a new LXC that only converts data disks to ISO/BIN/CUE files so I can archive the various old CDs I have laying around.

I should have made a copy of ARM after I got it initially working instead of manipulating it right away.
