I received my order from Direct Canada yesterday and being the dumbass that I am, I want to exchange a few items.

I ordered a Evga p55 FTW, i7 860 cpu and 4G DDR3 G.skill ram. I should have done my research properly and bought a Evga X58 SLI because the p55 FTW will only run my video cards at x8 in sli

Basically, I just want to exchange the cpu, motherboard & ram I currently have with the X58, i7 920, and 6G of DDR3 and pay the difference. Nothing is opened and all seals are intact.

Whats my best bet for doing this as quickly and inexpensively as possible?

I'm pretty sure that they are going to charge shipping + restocking fee even if it's sealed. You would probably be better to sell he sealed unit at the same price you pay for them and buy new one. Ask their service before to do anything.

You will be hit by fees, shipping and restocking as mentionned by Martin.

Running the cards at 8x should not be a problem.

After some more research and consideration, I've decided to keep the parts and enjoy my 11 days of christmas off work building and testing my new system.

It's not worth the aggravation or $$$ to send the shit back. I just want to enjoy the holidays with some new gear and from what I've read here on HC and elsewhere, the P55 FTW + i7 860 (overclocked, of course) + 4G DDR3 2000 ram will not hamper my pair of GTX 280's

All I'm really hoping for is a bit more FPS @ 1920x1200 than my 780i at ultra high detail settings and perhaps smoother game play at this resolution, too. Plus it will be fun to test and benchmark this set up with my recently received 9800GX2 replacement (evga + lifetime warranty = good :thumb:)

The fact is that the FireryPheonix rig in my signature is being sold and I will be building a new system out of the guts of the Funkbox plus my 9800gx2.

and the cycle continues.........:punk:

thanks for the help

Ha Ha, No everything is still all sealed up. Gonna build on the 25th - oh man, I have to name the rig "Jesus" now, for sure :haha:

I'll post something, although I don't know how detailed it will be. I've already taken pictures of the pretty boxes.....
