Hi everyone,

my old APC br1000g died last night.

What would you recommend for around 200$, more or less 1000va ?

Haven't looked for years about an ups, having a hard time to decide

Thanks!

Did the APC itself die or the battery? You should be able to get the replacement battery and self-service it - contact APC see what they say. Batteries are generally cheaper than the unit themselves.

If you decide to replace the whole unit, then the question(s) might be:

1. Do you use any software to control graceful system shutdowns such as apcupsd?
2. How many systems/devices are you connecting to it?
3. What is the average total power that will be consumed via the UPS?

I have been using CyberPower 1500VA for years now and have gone through 2-3 battery replacements (I have 4 units) in the past 6 years. They have been outstanding with battery replacements if in-warranty and I have been able to purchase batteries outright via amazon as well.

I run several unRAID servers, ESXi and linux servers that hook into apcupsd service to monitor for shutdown signals and turns systems off gracefully.

I would recommend getting 1500VA unit ~ $250CAD on average. If you are in no rush wait for black friday or cyber monday.

Hi anobioz,

the unit displayed and F02 error, and APC faq says :

APC UPS f02 error code

An F02 error code displayed indicates solid state component damage, i.e. a blown fuse, relay weld, etc.

The unit is old (2013 or 2015 from NCIX), so I won't service it.

1. I currently use the default apc powerchute software in Windows, I don't need a network command to be send to other computers (no server).

2. I need 8 outlets or more, and I will be putting it on my gaming pc (and transfer the current ups on the htpc system).

3. Max 500w. Amd 5900x with a gefore 1660ti (will maybe upgrade to a 7800xt if good deal on BF).

I was looking at cyberpower this morning, I may wait for a BF deal on a CP1000PFCLCD (I don't need it NOW).

Thank you :)

Cyberpower is solid now (their early stuff I had hit or miss issues with).
I use a few of their lower profile 1000VA AVR units because they fit in the right spot and are not stand-by topology.

I have 3 that have been solid over their lifetime now, so the quality is there. And they have a good footprint.
You can go with the Tower version if you prefer, just as an option.

Looks like a great size/format for keeping my network up and running during a power outage... :)

Personally I keep to the pure sine wave units from CyberPower. Mine lasted about 12 years but had to replace the batteries every 4-5 years which was cheap with battery world being a local retailer.

same! they start at 750VA and go up to 1500VA for 15A circuits.
