I've researched a couple options (including the Rode in BST thread), but figured good to ask.

My headset I've used for years has all of a sudden started hurting my ears. Not sound level, but physically. Weird. So I switched back to my K612 Pro set, no comfort issues, but no mic on those. I have a ModMic from years ago, but keeping it attached was a pain.

I'd like to have a mic on the desktop that will pick up my voice for gaming/Discord chat from maybe a couple feet away. I don't really want to get into using a boom, although I know that would be the recommendation, but for how often I use a mic I think that would just clutter up my space. Unless of course there isn't any mic that would fit the bill.

A cheap Amazon Basics one gets decent reviews, but no noise cancellation. I'd like to pay enough to have that. Shure MV6 is a top rated PC Gamer option, but that one is pushing $200 CAD on Amazon.ca and that is more than I'd like to spend. Hoping for something in $80-100 CAD range.

Enough blah-blah! Any recommendations appreciated.

The Seiren Mini V3 is on sale at a lot of places right now for $56 which seems to be a decent value.

Not sure about it's noise cancellation but there is a lot of software options for that in general

That Blue Yeti linked is an incredible value. It's the mic I've used for ages and it's amazing. However, the built in noise cancelling on most mics isn't going to be as good as a decent software solution. I have an nVidia GPU and Broadcast is outstanding for noise cancellation. (I see you're using an AMD card, so that's not an option for you.) If your use case is mostly Discord, then Discord has Krisp noise suppression built right in to it and it works very well. (Settings -> Voice and Video -> Noise Suppression) And if you're using OBS for recording, then there's noise suppression options there as well.

Yeah if you dont have an audio background and dont want to deal with a lot of extra complications, Blue Yeti gets my vote, easily. Had one for years for simple one-PC gaming setups and it works great in every sense. Highly recommended 👍

Thanks for all the input. I'll check those out. Lots of praise for the Yeti, and I do like the size of that Seiren Mini V3. Hmmm...
Somebody in the BST has an external Creative Labs sound card/DAC which probably has a noise cancellation function on it........
Yes indeed ;) If I didn't already have my Mayflower amp/DAC, I'd perhaps consider that!

I did notice that Yeti is refurbished... that a reason to avoid it or is refurb from Amazon usually okay?

Honestly, although I agree with all the recommendations about the Yeti, I'm not sure I have the space for it. Between head/eye tracking, screen size, tablet, Stream Deck, I'm not sure I'd be able to place it somewhere on the desk that would be close enough to my voice and not block some aspect of my view... 🤔 Clearly that is why people go to a boom I suppose.

I didn't notice that it was a refurb when I posted it. I've bought Corsair and Logitech refurbs for my wife & daughter's PC before with no issues.

And there is a threaded hole in the bottom to mount it onto a boom arm. You may need an adapter.

There's a boom on Amazon specifically for Blue Yeti mics. https://www.amazon.ca/Blue-Yeti-Microphone-Boom-YUZUHOME/dp/B09QR8HLSZ?gQT=2
