That is a very odd situation. I know you're not the only one, but I guess I have been lucky. I haven't had any issues since launch. Weird...

That is the thing, I'm guessing I would really enjoy the game. If I thought that it was just a weird isolated issue then I might have spent more time troubleshooting but as soon as I looked up my error I saw that there were lots of people with it, and even ones getting it after being fine for a month.

I am glad that it is working for you, just wish it would have for me as well. Oh well, backlog is huge anyway.

It's definitely a frustrating one and it has certainly been a while since launch, seemingly enough to make progress on hunting these things down! I haven't played it for a few weeks... maybe it be broke for me now too! 😁 I hope not...

If anyone's still on the fence about the whole cowboy simulator thing now is a good time to try it out, THIS IS THE ONLINE PORTION ONLY.

Most digital stores have it for $7CAD, I grabbed it on the weekend and was pleasantly surprised how much there is for the price,
(grinding for gold aside). The price is scheduled to go up in February, sounds like by 4x.

Also note that if you have amazon prime you get a few perks every month and right now is a free bounty hunter license that normally would take many tens of hours of gametime to earn enough gold to buy the license.

Edit: ninja'd by @lowfat :)

Just to clarify, this gets you Red Dead Online, not the Red Dead Redemption 2 single player game. That is a separate purchase.

I have the full RDR2 game, single player and online, and this release of Online standalone made me decide to try Online and check it out.

Agree with @On2wheels it is a good experience for $7. There are some oddly absent mechanics or game loops missing that are in single player that I was disappointed about, but what is there is decent. One example, there are herds of wild horses in Online, and you can catch them, but you can't bond with them, put a saddle on them, or sell them. Same for horses you steal. So that removes the whole horse trader/thief option play style. That is just one example of a missing activity.

Also it appears that things you steal or pickup don't actually become yours. For example, take an NPCs hat after a fight, fine, it's yours until you log out. Come back in, gone. Only things you actually purchase are yours.

But, for $7 it's fun and would certainly let you know if you might like the setting for buying the single player.

So before Xmas I bought the full game. I spent about 100hrs playing through it, doing all the NPC sidequests. I just finished the main storyline this evening. It's likely the most touching, emotional game I've ever played..

All the bugs are worked out, the game is beautiful, and the story line is epic.

Highly recommend. I'm sad that I've completed the game. I really hope they come up with a prequel to this prequel.

I lost my save off a bad OS crash a while ago, and althought I was enjoying it, I really dont want to replay the entire prologue up to the first camp.

Maybe I'll see if I can find some saves online and replay it. Especially since I've shelved CP2077 for now.

Sagath, do it. Even if you start from scratch, there is just so much game after the first camp that it's worth the few hours it takes to play the prologue.

I'm not quite finished the game. I'm still playing the epilogue, but the main story arc is definitely done. A few hours later, and I'm still sitting here in a bit of shock, just in awe at the climax.

The NPC side missions are all good, too. They don't feel grindy or forced, have excellent characters, and really contribute towards Arthur's development, and your relationship playing as him.

Some people complain that all the constant riding back and forth across the map can be a bit tiresome....you can get access to a fast travel system by purchasing it in main camp (accessed anywhere by setting up camp). I used it rarely, preferring to ride my horse most everywhere I went. The scenery is beautiful, and you find a ton of sidequests and opportunities by doing so, like treasure hunts, legendary animals, important NPC's, etc.

Two particular NPC's you initially meet mid-game. You then stumble upon them a couple more times later on, completely at random in the woods, and get to help them again, and then see how they're getting on. It's little touches like that that make the game special, and it wouldn't happen if you just fast travel everywhere.

Im trying to remember where I was at for the game. I believe I lost it just after moving camp the first time...that would be chapter 2?

There is lots of saves out there. I can just start after the Prologue at the start of Chaper 1 and get the refresher I guess!
