But watching my NAS get hammered with port requests from Iran, Egypt, and China (before I had PFsense set up...

I block India, China, Iran, Pakistan and North Korea within UbiFi's threat management, it drastically cit down on the number of alerts. Now I only get alerts from the Soviet Union (.su). lol I would block Russia, but than rutracker would be borked.

yeah. I have pfsense set up now so I'm less worried. Also I believe you can set up site exemptions so that rutracker still works.

Trying out the chrome RD, its working good so far. Im wondering though, would windows have better performance? Like, would me setting up a server run faster since im using my own internet.. kinda like skipping the middle man, not to mention I have no Idea where this "middle man" is..

Yes! I saw dmz. How does this help my situation?
How would i take advantage of it for remote desktop?

It doesn't. It does the opposite and puts a PC outside your network, fully exposed.
