With the arctic region now heating up faster than expected, it's affecting the Jet Stream and splitting it more frequently resulting in these heat domes. Plus the air quality index within a heat zone is usually poor. Get's worse when you factor in a lot of forest fires in eastern US with the jet stream pushing it northwards into the heat dome and into Canada.
