has anyone done this im seeing temps rising on my old back up server its a old Qnap TS-469 Pro im wondering how hard would it be to locate the cpu and give it a cool clean and repaste with some proper paste?
Any difference in temps or noise? My QNAPs have never run loud, so I assume the temps are within normal range. The HDDs are always the audible part for me, these IronWolf's being the loudest yet... but I guess it's because they're 7200rpm.
The teardown doesn't look THAT bad, but yeah, that paste looked pretty crappy. Guess that whole process gave you a good opportunity to get the dirt off that fan too? Anyway, given the temp drop, it appears the process was successful..... congrats!
