The Kaxe Station 2 from Scythe goes in a 3.5" bay and offers 2 Fan Controllers, 2 USB 3.0 port over a motherboard header and Front Panel Audio.
Fans connect through a 3-pin connector on the back and can be controlled from 5 to 12 Volts. Each Fan output has a rating of 12Watts/1A. The knobs are pretty sturdy and I could not get them pulled off. To power the controller, you need to either run a floppy drive cable or use the included Molex to Floppy Adapter Cable. In kaze/case your Fan cables are not long enough, you get a pair of 3 to 4 pin extension cables.
The USB 3.0 Ports are connected directly to the motherboard and connecting a drive to the KazeStation or the rear i/O ports didn't show a difference in CrystalDiskMark. It is just a extension cable, so that can be replaced as well, if desired.
This was the reason, why I got this controller in the first place. My Zalman U3 uses a special cable for the front audio and when taking the case apart, the cable broke. The Kaze Station on the other hand use a standard HD-Audio (no AC'97) plug, so you can replace it with a cable of your choice.
Conclusion: The Plastic is hard and has a good black color to it. This makes it blend in well with the case and will prevent it from being scratched. The Front Audio has no interference, just that the cable is grey bothers me. The USB 3.0 Cable is just a extension cable, so that can be replaced as well, if desired. Would I get another one? Yes, because it is nice and simple.
