I'd love to see a review of this new cooler from Arctic cooling:

Pay special attention to the non-shrouded 50mm fan just above the base of the heatsink, supposedly made to increase airflow around the VRM/NB areas.

Also... 300w cooling capacity? Really?

This is a must-see cooler! HWC! Review it please!

Maybe, maybe not. 4x 8mm heatpipes is pretty beefy, but it could just be a marketing gimmick.

Still, im more interested in seeing the effect of the open-bladed 50mm fan on the bottom and if it actually does Something. lol

That little fan looks like it would be powered by the airflow in your case or by thermal induction.. really makes you wonder how fast it would spin.

Nope! Its powered, judging by the RPM figures listed directly on their site: (Its PWM controlled btw)

Just read the instruction manual on this thing and apparently it uses the same fan header as the cpu.. so the PWM not only controls the main fain but the lower fan..

PWM requires a 4 pin fan header... only 4 pin I know of on any boards is the CPU fan header.. Unless more boards are coming out with multiple 4 pin fan headers.

Arctic cooling is famous for its "PWM-sharing" tech which allows multiple fans to run off of one 4-pin connector. I'm guessing hats what they're using in this case to control both the 120mm fan And the 50mm at the same time.
