The RTX 3050 6GB has been officially released. As with many of their re-lauched/modified cards I feel like it should have a different name. As much as I dislike most classaction lawsuits, I wish there were a few against this practice (I am positive lots of less informed people buy lesser versions without knowing it). Hopefully I didn't mess up anything transcribing the below.

3050 6GB3050 8GB (original)
2304 cores2560 cores
1042mhz base1552mhz base
1470mhz boost1777mhz boost
6GB8GB
96 bit bus128 bit bus
70 watt130 watt

It is crazy how much this card is cut down to carry the same name. A 96 bit bus?!?

Just call it a 3040 or 3030, give it a good price, and it will sell fine by not needing a power connector. But instead we get the naming confusion, huge performance difference, and complaints IOT try and make a few extra $ off of unknowing customers. Bah...kind of a rant on top of a thread.

EDIT: Official specs from nvidia...additionally there is an OEM version that is different as well (kind of in between).

Yeah, with those kinds of nerfs it really should have a new model name, or they need to come up with a (marketing unfriendly) suffix which implies the negative implications to the base model. (and no... in my mind tagging on a 6GB doesn't do it, especially since previous experience has shown us that the new cards won't be clearly marketed as such.

Maybe a 3050 Cr (for crap)? :)
