RTX5000 Reviews

How much frame buffer does a modern game require to run at 1080P these days anyway?

I would expect a 60 series card to be able to run 1080P at Ultra settings, right? Or at mid/high with RTX turned on, right?

Surprisingly, not with 8GB in all games anymore. I will try to find a video I watched recently (I think it was 4060Ti 8GB vs 16GB, but I would have to confirm). In lots of games it doesn't really matter, but there are an increasing number of games where 8gb gets exceeded and it drops avg fps a bit, but tanks 1% lows. It generally seems that you have to except turning down textures in those games to keep it under the 8gb mark. I think it may have been the new indiana jones game where it was black screening on max settings with the 8gb card, but ran fine on the 16gb...

I will try to find it after work.

I can’t remember what video I originally watched, and this isn’t someone I normally watch, but it shows the issues with 8gb at 1080 in several games out of the gate….some even at medium settings.

Gigabyte Eagle 5060Ti 16GB got an extremely short PCB. The card is full length so half of it are flow thru heat sink.

Here's the text version of HUB's review of the 5060Ti 8GB. I hate the fact that they drop charts and switched to side-by-side gameplay screenshot because of one TurdTuber that called their reviews faked.

^^^ I didn't realize The Last of Us Part 2 had been released on Steam. But there it is, in their testing data. Sweet. I'll play it before I watch the 2nd part of the series on TV.

Gotta finish KCDII first, though.

the idiocy grows! so much so that if they were a better company, I'd feel sorry for them.

all RTX 50 GPU have a hotspot issue where the power connectors are:

this one is only affecting Gigabyte cards, so is probably their defect, but RTX 50 cards from them are getting so hot the TIM is melting:

in other news, Nvidia is so hot to sell their AI tech that Chinese companies are being reported to hoarding over 1 million H20 cards in anticipation of the effects of the bans and tariff wars.

and Chinese data centers find themselves overcapacity with RTX 4090D CPU, so selling them off as refurbs with the 48GB model going for as much as $5500 USD.
