well, this dashes my hope for a 5070/60 card that would be worth the upgrade from my 3060ti, maybe AMD will bring something to the market worth upgrading to, fingers are crossed

Asus ROG Astral 5080 reviewed. 50% more in price than FE.

Insane. I'm sure the extra fan and chonky cooler add costs but that's nuts.

Even with the bonkers price of the 5000 series, I can't help but feel partners are getting undercut by Nvidia to the point that we'll see another one or two close up in the next generation or two. EVGA can't be alone in their frustration and while ASUS and MSI are bigger companies with more contacts and fabrication discounts (and lower warranty expenses compared to EVGA), I doubt they're blind to the writing on the wall.

What I think I found most interesting with this release is how unimportant PCI-Express generations still are for a GPU.

I think it was Jay that shows a 5090 on gen 3x16 was down at most 1-3% or so and gen 4x16 was margin of error on x16 and that NVMe drives are really the only thing that is effected.

Literally destroying the market that feeds them in the long run. More money off people willing to pay it for now, but less and less people get into PC gaming due to the rising costs.
