Sapphire HD 5870 2GB Toxic Edition Review Comment Thread

I was wondering, was the CPU - Intel Core i7 920(ES) @ 4.0Ghz with the CoolIT Boreas mTEC on during the System power Consumption Test? Same for all the power consumption test?

The Boreas TEC elements are turned off for the power consumption tests.

hey sky. are you saying current silicone is 'worse' than what teh ystarted off? aluding to the oc caps with later cards :)

Is it just me or are the pics in the review correct? I didn't even notice a toxic badge on the card (looks absolutely identical to the 5870 vapor-x?)

Kind of dissapointing gains really, the architecture must have a bottleneck on the chip itself holding back greater gains.

that forceware for the nvidia side of multi monitor gaming is anyone's guess of when its coming out, with the cards coming out now (if they have) nvidia should be releasing them soon as anyone hopes they do. version 256 i hear

eyefinity version card with 2gb review is here:

ATI Radeon 5870 Eyefinity6 - Featured Review - WSGFWiki

The review shows the 5870 eyefinity edition 2gb card in eyefinity resolutions and should be fairly close to this card in 3 monitor resolutions but any higher and its on one card or xfire being eyfinity edition.

man metro 2033 is brutal, when are we gonna start seeing 3 monitor benchmarks? wondering how nvidia's software solution compares to ati's

Honestly, not anytime soon. Like most people, there many things I can justify spending money on but another display isn't anywhere near the top of my list. Nor do I particularly want to spend the money on DisplayPort to DVI adaptors. Maybe sometime in the future but not right now.

This has to do with how they run the fab, they can run it "cold" and get few very high bin chips or they can run it "hot" and get lots of low-binned chips. Right now I think ATI needs quantity over quality.
